Jane Test Knit Details

 Test Dates: December 21, 2022 - March 27, 2023

Schematic and Yardage

Elizabeth wears a deep blue herringbone hand knit dress with pastel stripes, the rippled stripes are complemented by lace trim.

You are no Plain Jane. The Jane Dress is a hybrid construction (seamed and seamless) all-over herringbone lace dress. The customizable skirt length means you can knit Jane as a crop sweater, sweater, tunic or dress. The stripes shown in my sample are detailed in the pattern however; you may choose to do all one color or a different pattern of stripes if you like!

The bodice and sleeves of this dress are knit flat and seamed for a tailored fit that will support the weight of the skirt. The skirt is picked up from the bodice after seaming and knit from the top down. The modified drop shoulder sits an inch or so beyond your natural shoulder. This construction blends good fit with comfortable and roomy style.

Jane is recommended to fit with approximately 6" of ease at the upper bust. Full Bust Adjustment (bust darts) are included in the pattern in three cup sizes.

Available in 11 sizes intended to fit an actual bust from 30-70" with approximately 6" of ease. The chart below may help you determine your size.

For complete sizing information please see the schematic here. Jane's length is completely customizable as the skirt is knit with no shaping rounds from the top down. Tester's are welcome to knit any length that suits them from crop top to floor length.

Yarns used - Wildflower Yarn Superwash Merino/Nylon DK shown in colors Blurple and Unicorn Tears.

You may test in any yarn that allows you to meet gauge.

Gauge - 22 sts and 34 rows per 4"/10 cm knit in herringbone stitch.

21 sts and 32 rows per 4"/10 cm knit in feather and fan stitch.

As this dress is knit both flat and in the round it is important to check gauge for both. You may need to change needle sizes when working in the round.
